Creative Commons License photo credit: Thoth, God of Knowledge   Tiger Woods has made his announcement that he will soon be returning to the game of golf.  He wants to do it “quietly” without large throngs of reporters asking all kinds of embarrassing questions.

What he won’t tell everyone, however, is that he is a control freak, still up to his old tricks as usual.  Everything is done on “his terms.”  The April, 2010 edition of Golf Digest played right into his hands because their latest article makes Woods into “the victim,” instead of the perpetrator.  Of coarse, Golf Digest could care less about the signal their pathetic article would send to kids.

Poor Tiger Woods, he just couldn’t help himself, he just didn’t know what he was doing!  Now lets all have a good laugh!

Tiger’s Maya Copa

Creative Commons License photo credit: gitsul.   Tiger Woods finally entered the daylight and gave a 14  minute “maya copa” speech to the entire world.  Sitting in front of Mr. Woods was his mother, wife and mother-in-law.  Inside the conference center where the speech was given, reporters were present but not allowed to ask questions.  In a special note the Golf Writers Association of America boycotted the event.

Woods read a well scripted speech in which he apologized to his family, friends and fans.  He stated that the press had no right to pursue his family and two children.  He spoke of his own sexual addiction and stated that he could not say when he would return to the game of golf.

What did you think of the speech?  We’d love to hear  your comments.

More Allegations in Tiger-Gate

November Demonstration Against Abortion
Creative Commons License photo credit: utsfl   More sordid details about one of Tiger Woods’ mistresses have been made public.  Joslyn James, a 32 year-old porn star who first met Woods in a Las Vegas nightclub in 2006, in an interview with the very popular TV show Inside Edition, alleged that she was impregnated twice by Woods and suffered a miscarriage during the first pregnancy and aborted the second one.

She also alleged that her pregnancy coincided with Elin Woods’ pregnancy with their (Elin’s) second child.  She said “I was pregnant with Charlie at the time and I didn’t want to ruin anything.”  She alleged, that after his car accident, he abruptly “ended all contact with me.”  “Right now I don’t know if he cares about anybody or loves anybody but himself,” she said.

Woods Check Into Sex Clinic

The question is whether this is a facade or only a public relations (PR) stunt on the part of Woods.  He knows he is “damaged goods” in the eyes of the public, his sponsors and the PGA Tour.  Is his enrollment designed to deflect public scrutiny and invite sympathy?  Is his MO (mod-us-operandi) to “get cured” and return the victor, stronger than ever?

Woods’ behavior should receive serious public scrutiny.  He is no longer the pristine “glamour boy” he was purported to be.

The Feeding Frenzy on Tiger

Creative Commons License photo credit: nsaplayer   In every respect, golf has taken a big hit after the Tiger Woods debacle.  Tiger represented a huge part of the yearly revenue in every phase of the sport of golf.  From manufacturers to golf courses, to the media everyone is taking a big hit.  The PGA Tour will especially feel the absence of this once, iconic player.

The blame is not necessarily Tiger’s.  The real blame falls on the shoulders of everyone that had a feeding frenzy on Tiger.  They promoted him like he was not just a super-star but a supernatural being. They idolized and adored him.  When it turned out that Tiger was, ah! let’s say, an abnormal kind’a guy, the roof fell in.  So, in the end, who’s fault was it?  I think it’s time to look in the mirror !

The Disappearance of “The Tiger”

Tiger Woods
Creative Commons License photo credit: cliff1066™   They say the measure of the man is how he handles adversity.  Since his self-induced scandal, Tiger Woods has been in exile.  Some imply that he may be waiting for his serious facial injuries to heal.  I contend that this is another example of how Woods was just a lot of “puff” before the scandal broke, and now when the time has come to show some real courage by facing his fans and the public, he’s decided to take the easy way out; the cop-out.

Besides the damage inflicted on his family and his marriage, the game of golf, his sponsors, his fans and the general public, Woods has truly given people everywhere, a reason to doubt their sports heroes.  What a pity and a shame !

$300 Million at Stake

Creative Commons License photo credit: AComment   The Tiger Woods scandal could be quite costly for golf’s biggest superstar.  Rumors abound that Woods and his wife are bound by a prenuptial agreement.  If a divorce occurs, his wife could receive $300 million of Woods’ nest egg, reported  to be $1 billion.

Tiger Woods, who was alleged to have had two simultaneous affairs, has released a statement expressing his wish for privacy.  No doubt Woods’ credibility has been damaged severely, not only professionally but personally but the worst may be yet to come.

Now if $300 million doesn’t sound like much to you; it’s $6 million a year for the next 50 years, or put another way, $115,384.62 a week for the same period.  This would still leave Woods with $700 million with most of his career still ahead of him !

Too Big to Fail

Creative Commons License photo credit: Wootang01   In their prime, Nicklaus, Palmer and Player could be seen every week on the PGA Tour.  Their schedule was just as hectic as tour players that were relatively unknown.  There was a true devotion to every event that depended on their presence.  Is Tiger Woods, “cut from the same mold?”

Woods seems indifferent to the fans and PGA Tour.  He plays the more noteworthy tour events, tournaments with a “name.”  Has Woods become “too big” for the game itself?  Does he dislike losing so much that he doesn’t play when he’s in a slump?  Is Woods too big to fail?  Maybe Woods’ absence is a blessing for the other players !  It sure gives you something to think about.

Will Tiger Ever be the Same

Creative Commons License photo credit: Keith Allison   It has been 9 months since Tiger Woods has played tournament golf.  Suffering torn ligaments and a hairline fracture in his left leg, Woods has been in rehabilitation in hopes of making a strong comeback in the 2009 Masters.  The question is whether Tiger will be the same player that left the tour for surgery after the 2008 U.S. Open.

Woods had a good showing in the WGCA Championship at Doral in March, coming in with a final score of 11 under par.  He was forced to make a swing change to take some of the pressure off his left knee, how this will affect his all around play is anyone’s guess.  Most likely, however, Tiger will come back with a “roar” and dominate the game as he has done for so many years now.  Maybe.

The Invincible Tiger

Creative Commons License photo credit: bhollar   Webster’s Dictionary defines invincible as “incapable of being conquered, defeated or subdued,” does this sound familiar?  Tiger Woods, if he remains healthy, will most likely be known as the world’s greatest golfer.  His 2008 U.S. Open performance may go down as the greatest victory in the history of the game.  Woods described it this way “My greatest ever Championship.”

The beautiful Torrey Pines was the scene of one of the most thrilling matches of all time.  Tiger Woods, playing with a broken leg and torn ligaments, in a playoff with 45 year old, Rocco Mediate.  The 91 holes that were played left us wanting for 91 more and then some.  This was the invincible Tiger at his very best.
