Do you get Ball Bound?

Creative Commons License photo credit: emples     Becoming too conscientious about your swing mechanics and concentrating too much on the golf ball itself, can cause you to be “ball bound.”

When addressing the ball, once you have gone through your checkpoints (grip, aim, stance and posture), your only concern should be your target.   Concentrating on certain swing functions can create distractions that you don't want or need.   Your basic thought should be to advance the ball from point A to your target, point B.

Another problem can occur when too much attention is paid to the ball itself.   Neither the ball or it's lie, have  anything to do with your real objective which is to advance it to it's next resting place, the target.   Adjust for your lie and swing through the ball, not at it.
