Hitting it High

First, set your weight more on your right side (right handers) and move the ball well forward in your stance.   Open the clubface slightly and open your shoulders a bit.

The idea is to make a very aggressive swing because you need to create a lot of backspin AND ball speed.   The more spin and speed the higher the ball will fly.   If you are hitting from rough there will not be as much backspin but the height of the shot will allow the ball to land softly with minimal roll.
