Attacking the Pin

1)   Is your lie good?   Downhill, uphill, sidehill, rough, hardpan are all no-go's.   2)   Would you hit the green, at least 7 out of 10 times from this yardage?   Any full shot will qualify, if you have to hit a 1/2 or 3/4 shot, play safe.   3)   Does the pin position match your shot shape?      If a fade is your typical shot shape and the pin is tucked left, play safe.    4)   If you miss the green, are you likely to make no worse than bogey?   Missing the green requires a  ”save shot” and if your not good at saves, play safe.

Playing safe simply means to  target the center of the green.
