Downhill Recovery Shots
July 12, 2009 by admin

photo credit: shareski A short downhill pitch shot, in close proximity to the green, is a difficult shot. To make life easier, weaken your grip ( the hands are rotated on the grip towards the hole) which will create a much more upright backswing. A weak grip will also help keep the clubface open which is needed for this kind of shot.
A shot of this type requires a harder swing because de-lofting the club (opening the clubface), means that you have to swing harder. The ball will land softly on the green so make allowances for roll. If you are hitting from rough, the ball will usually roll farther than from short grass. Practice this shot, you'll be glad you did.
