World-class Flat Tire

Creative Commons License photo credit: Playadura*   A recent interview in GOLF MAGAZINE with Michelle Wie was very telling.  I have read many  interviews but rarely have I been so unimpressed with the kind of answers Wie gave.

Wie is not a kid but her answers were childlike and standoffish at best.  The phrase “I can’t remember” dominated the interview.  When referring to a wrist injury, she was asked “what was your lowest point?” her answer: “I don’t remember.”  When asked what she meant by ’lowest point,’ she said, “I don’t remember a lot from that time.”

Some say she is supposed to be the next Annika Sorenstam,  don’t count on it, she’s won only one tournament in six years and in my estimation, her golf game is like a flat tire !  Childlike answers to serious questions don’t help either.

Thanks for your response Mary Kate. I think you should go to our sister-site http://golfswingbook.com/blog/ and check out my comments on David Feherty’s article in the same publication (GOlf MAGAZINE) about Tiger Woods.

My response to your comments is very simple: Michelle Wie is a “professional” (that’s her title isn’t it?) who is representing the game of golf. Her fans and admirers should expect more than “I don’t know” answers from her. The questions she was asked were not personal in nature, so why the mystery? If she didn’t want to do the interview, why submit to it in the first place.

If you will check the blog more closely, you will see that I have been extremely critical of Tiger Woods, much more so than my remarks about Michelle Wie. You know, and I know that Michelle Wie’s game is nothing but a flash in the pan and her record proves it.

As far as scholastic achievements are concerned, it seems that you rate people by the college they’ve attended. Stanford? Big deal ! I find what really matters is not book sense but COMMON SENSE.

I do resent your implication that I dislike women, however. You seem to be a card carrying feminist, I thought feminists fought for equal rights, well….just because Wie is a women doesn’t discount her from being criticized for stupid 3rd grade, answers. Besides, my mother was a woman !

I’m going to go “crawl under my rock now,” but before I do, thanks again for participating, whether you believe it or not, I do appreciate it !
